The Matchday 3 fixtures played on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in Groups A and G of the 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup had their own fair share of dramatic finale.
Sundof Academy were missing in action in their Group A tie against Young Stars, as the Academicians did not turn up for the match.
The result gave Stars all three points at stake and three goals. Thanks to the walkover verdict by match officials.
At about the same time, group winners, Bobbies United were comfortably beating Selected All Stars 4 – 1 at the Oleh Township Stadium.
However, there was a twist of events in the 82 minute when Selected thought they had genuinely scored a penalty kick rebound after the central referee decided otherwise.
The game was subsequently abandoned by the riverine boys.
In the final round of matches in Group G, it was a win-win situation, as Ekete United laboured to a 2 – 1 victory over Delta Eagles in Kwale and All Stars International Academy mercilessly demolished Golden Albion 5 – 0 at the Warri City Stadium.
